Want to become more present? Here’s how…

Hey, friend - I get it.

You want to be present, be yourself, and show up for the people in your life even (and especially) in the midst of hardship or the daily grind.  And that’s why I’m *so* glad you're part of the Majestik Magnolia inner circle because that’s exactly what I’m here to help you do.

Here are my top three tips on learning how to become more present.

TIP ONE:  Take a Sun Break (but leave the phone behind)

Go outside and sit in the sun for 5-10 minutes.  That’s it.  Leave the phone behind, don’t take a book, and limit other distractions.  Give yourself the gift of experience - the sun’s warmth, the sound of the birds and insects, appreciating the landscape around you.  Why?  We build our capacity to become more present in life by creating opportunities to practice presence.  (Plus we all deserve a little more sunshine.)

If being outside isn’t feasible for you at the moment, it's all good! Use the sunniest window available to you, remove distractions, and enjoy!

TIP TWO:  Brush your teeth differently

Mix up your routine - brush your teeth differently!  How you swap it around is up to you.

How do you normally brush your teeth?  Do you stand at the bathroom sink?  Try sitting down.  Brush in the shower?  Brush at the sink.  Do you always use your dominant-hand but have a non-dominant hand available?  Switch it up!

Mixing up a routine forces us to be mindful to keep focus on the task at hand.  This exercise will train you to keep your attention on the present moment.

TIP THREE:   Tell yourself nice things with "Nice Notes"

Friend, YOU ARE MAGIC!  It’s easy to forget what we don’t see (or hear) on a regular basis…”out of sight, out of mind” is REAL thing.  So, you gotta remind yourself of your magic on the regular.

Write an encouraging “Nice Note” to yourself - this can be whatever words or reminders of encouragement you need. Put it in your planner, on your bathroom mirror, phone screen saver, or frame it for your desk/wall. Just make sure it’s in a spot where you’ll get to see it often.

Telling yourself nice things is a practice of showing up for yourself - on purposeBecause when you can be present for yourself intentionally?  It’s easier to be yourself on purposeAnd y’all…that’s where the real magic is.
